By incorporating cherries into your daily diet, you can enjoy their delicious taste as well as reap the health benefits and there is a growing body of scientific evidence that suggests sour cherries, whether ingested in the form of dried or frozen fruit, or juice, contain extremely high levels of antioxidants compared to similar fruits. They are also packed full of other important nutrients, including vitamin C, magnesium, iron, potassium, fiber, and foliate, plus they contain nineteen times as much beta carotene as strawberries and blueberries.
The antioxidants in dried sour cherries are an excellent way of helping to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, both of which are known to be causes of heart disease and many other serious health issues. Consuming cherries as part of a healthy diet can play a big role in managing the factors that lead to weight problems and disease.

Many people add dried cherries to their breakfast. By throwing a handful into a bowl of oatmeal or cereal, or adding them to a cup of yoghurt, you have ten times the flavor plus a big dose of healthy nutrition. They also make a tasty alternative to raisins, so if a recipe calls for raisins, add dried tart cherries instead.
If you enjoy baking, adding some dried sour cherries to your cake mixture is a great way of giving your buns a lift. They can also be added to muffins plus any other sweet cake or biscuit recipe. Basically cherries can be added to any recipe that calls for dried fruit of some description and the culinary possibilities are literally endless.
Dried cherries make a delicious and nutritious snack that you can enjoy throughout the day. Instead of picking at junk food like crisps and chocolate, pop some dried tart cherries in every time you have a sweet craving. They are much healthier and a great deal more flavorsome.
As well as the traditional variety of dried tart cherries that have been infused with sugar before the drying process, you can buy unsweetened dried cherries with no added sugar, or the truly decadent chocolate covered dried tart cherries. These make a delicious treat, but they are so tasty, once you start snacking, you won’t be able to stop!
Once you have stocked up on dried sour cherries, you can store them in a cool, dry place for up to twelve months. Unlike fresh fruit, they don’t require refrigeration or freezing to prolong their life. However, the chances of you having any dried cherries left for that long are very slim—they are far too delicious to be left sitting in a cupboard!
