Homemade Cherry Pie

Directions for making the homemade cherry pie:

First, pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt and lemon juice and mix well. The cherries should be thoroughly coated with the other ingredients.

Place the pie dough in a pie pan and then pour the mixed ingredients on it. Place another piece of pie dough on top of the mixture. Another idea is to cut the pie dough into strips and then weave them on top of the filling for a lattice effect.

Place pie pan in the lowest rack of the oven and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. The crust should have turned a nice golden brown color and the filling should be bubbling.

Remove from the oven and place on a rack to cool, which should take about 3 hours.

The homemade cherry pie makes for a very filing and delicious dessert. You can top it up with ice cream or whipped cream, or both.
